VICTORIA (March 6, 2018) – Okanagan College will see an additional $889,000 tax burden in 2020/21, thanks to the NDP’s employer’s health tax.
While the NDP flaunt saving from MSP cuts, costs continue to mount for institutions and businesses across B.C.
The surprise changes will likely force Okanagan College to raise tuition or cut programs in order to afford the near million dollar increase.
Advanced Education Minister Melanie Mark refused to answer when questioned about the surprise tax burden by Shuswap MLA Greg Kyllo. Instead of directly addressing the challenges at Okanagan College, Finance Minister Carole James replied by deferring to a canned answer. Currently, an untold number of B.C. employers and families will be on the hook for thousands in taxes used to supplement the government’s loss of MSP revenue.
